The Ford Ranger slots in as a bold and powerful midsized truck that manages robust power, modern tech, and plenty of comfort. Whether you're after a bold new daily cruiser that also includes an impressive amount of utility or you're after a reliable work truck, the Ford Ranger makes for a great model to consider. The latest model year of the Ford Ranger offers drivers three trim levels: XL, XLT, and Lariat.

The 2022 Ford Ranger boasts serious power regardless of the trim selected. That's because the new Ford Ranger offers up one engine option. All trim levels are powered by a 2.7-liter turbocharged that makes 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. This engine can be had with a rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. If you're looking to get an off-road-ready version of the Ranger, then you'll likely want to check out some of the available packages. The Tremor package, for instance, comes with a revised suspension, off-road Fox shocks, 32-inch all-terrain tires, and underbody protection. The Ranger also offers up an FX4 package, which includes a special suspension, tires, and wheels.

The Ranger doesn't go crazy in terms of tech, but it does include all the modern essentials. The base XL trim comes with a humbler set of tech features, including a 4-speaker audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port, and an AM/FM radio. If you're Detroit driver interested in more tech, then stepping to the XLT trim or adding the 101A package to the XL trim might be a good option. The 101A package adds a 6-speaker audio system, a larger infotainment display, and a Sync 3 infotainment system. The XLT trim comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display along with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto for smartphone connectivity. The new Ford Ranger also allows for addition tech to be had via packages. The Technology package includes a navigation system while the 501A package adds a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Interior Features

The Ford Ranger allows for a sold selection of interior features to be considered, with features ranging from standard options like vinyl-trimmed seats and air conditioning. The XL with the 101A package adds dual-zone automatic climate control. The XLT comes with all the features that come with the XL with the 101A package added while also adding keyless entry. Adding the 301A package to the XLT adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel while the 302A package adds remote start, a manual-sliding rear window, and heated front seats. The Lariat trim adds leather upholstery.

The Ranger makes a mix of driver assistance features available, with even the base XL trim coming standard with forward collision mitigation. Adding the Co-Pilot360 suite allows for blind spot monitor with cross-traffic alert and lane keeping assist to be gained. The 301A package adds rear parking sensors while the Technology package adds front parking sensors and adaptive cruise control.
